MAITE MORELL, 1964
I perfectly recall how I felt the first time I saw a Matisse painting in a book, it was fascinating to get lost among so many colors full of energy. I was around nine or ten years old and, at that moment, I knew what I wanted to do.
I studied my Fine Art’s degree between Sevilla and Valencia, two joyful and bright cities. It was a very happy time full of learning. When I finished my studies I started to paint and I exhibited my work in numerous galleries. Color was already a part of my life.
Years later I moved to Barcelona: a new city, new opportunities. My first years there I worked as a painting teacher, after that I was a part of the team that founded Palo Market Fest, where I still work as a curator. This allowed me to be in direct contact with artists and creatives.
During this time I swap my canvases and paint brushes for sketchbooks and colored pencils, I study different forms of expression.
Suddenly, while I was looking for new paths, I met Lusesita, with her pink hair and hands always covered in clay, who enthusiastically showed me her love for ceramics. Everything I know about this field today is thanks to her.
Today, on the other side of Paradise, between pine trees and the Mediterranean, I have found the space and calm necessary to let my imagination run wild.
Drawings, sketches, colors… Everything starts with a drawing, but this time around I am focusing on my ceramics. The journey of color continues, this website is my first step to share my adventure with you, to share my life with you.
WELCOME TO MY UNIVERSE OF PAINTING, CERAMICS AND COLORS.
